This morning, I was sitting at the hostel computer and someone asked me if I could book a taxi for them at 6:30 am, thinking I worked at the hostel. This afternoon, someone asked me if I was the bus driver. I replied, “I could be. But we’d get very lost.” Did I get dark…

Machu Picchu
I kept making the mistake of looking up the endless flight of stone steps, thinking that magically, maybe the top of the mountain was just around the corner. Each time, I looked back down, sweat dripping, and took one tiring step after another to the beat of Lady Gaga’s new album, Artpop.
Reinvigorated
At the beginning of the week, I felt a little burnt out from travel. I did a little research on it to validate my state of mind and turns out, it’s very common for many long-term travelers. I arrived in Cusco yesterday morning and today, I spent the entire day on a Sacred Valley Tour,…
No 5d/4n hiking for me
Did a lot of thinking the last few days and I’ve decided to take the train to Machu Picchu instead of hiking it. I am not the biggest fan of hiking, even less when it’s 5d/4n of 6-8 hours at high altitude and cold and bug bites. I heard the views on the hike are…
Brazil visa approved!
Yes! Collect it tomorrow and I’m off to Cusco on May 8. Machu Picchu awaits.
Short update: Currently in Lima, California

By “Stupid Tax”, I mean losing money by not doing things efficiently. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. 1. Bought a $100 plane ticket in Brazil that I cannot use (Sao Paulo – Porto Alegre) because I had to change my plans for the visa application. The embassy needed proof I am leaving Brazil. I couldn’t…
City of Daylight Robberies
I spent 9 nights in Quito and I don’t have much to say about it. Plenty of travellers I’ve spoken to hated it. I enjoyed my time here but only certain parts are mention-worthy.
Cruising in the Galapagos
I am a very lucky guy. The experience of the last week is still sinking in. First, I get out of a contract from what was to be a terrible cruise. Then I spend a week on a cruise that is definitely on the “Top 10 best weeks of my life” list. Maybe it was…
Brief Nightmare in Galapagos
Having said that I’d take my chances at trying to get a Galapagos cruise in Puerto Ayora, I proceeded to go cruise-shopping on the day I arrived in the Galapagos Islands. I was actually facing mild food poisoning that very day. It was a struggle to force myself to walk around town in the heat,…
