People’s Park – “The park for sharing happiness.”

Posted on February 17, 2019December 18, 2020 by KK

One thing I love about Chinese cities are the parks where the masses gather in the evenings to socialize and exercise collectively. In my last entry, I mentioned a place called People’s Park. I know parks exist in many other countries but I don’t think I have seen many which are filled with people on a regular basis. (Maybe this has something to do with China’s massive population and if a tiny percentage decided to go to the park, it would look filled.)

Dragon King Temple on a lake in People’s Park.
A man practicing Chinese calligraphy as his friend watches on.
A Chinese chess battle, a common sight in many Chinese men’s gatherings.
Many Chinese parks have these exercise contraptions. I especially love the ones used for stretching. Look at that old lady with the raised leg!
You don’t often find parks with table tennis tables but of course you have to have them in China.
